About Windrow Ranch

Windrow Ranch was established in 1895 and has been producing Timothy hay for 128 years. It is located in the beautiful Rogue River Valley of Southern Oregon. For many years Windrow was a cattle ranch but these days we farm only Timothy hay.

The climate is perfect for growing Timothy hay! The right amounts of rain and abundant sunshine are important for maintaining healthy fields. Southern Oregon is also known as “Little Italy” because it is very similar to a Mediterranean climate and Timothy hay grows wonderfully in such a climate.

Even cats love Timothy hay!

Our Process

We grow, cut, and harvest the hay ourselves, so we can assure our customers excellent quality hay for their small pets. We only cut and cure small amounts at a time in order to control the quality, making sure it is EXCELLENT every time.

Once cut into a windrow it is immediately taken into the barn, green and unbaled and is kept out of the sun. The sun actually harms the hay by bleaching out the chlorophyll and reducing the food value. It’s hard work but we care about the quality of the Timothy hay we feed our animals—and yours, too!

There’s nothing like the smell of fresh cut Timothy hay and it should smell just as fresh when feeding it to your favorite small pets! If it doesn’t smell fresh…it isn’t from Windrow Ranch!

History of Windrow Ranch

This is the original farmhouse (with modifications over the years…). It was built in 1895 and is 128 years old. There was a huge tree in the yard that finally died and was threatening to fall on the new metal roof so it was cut into firewood.
